I questioned myself if the world is real, and it led me into physics and neuroscience. I understood that the world I am experiencing is interpretation of my brain, while things around me are working according to certain physical laws. The related knowledge provides me opportunities to maneuvre things around, creating variety of experiences. Hence, to me, life is a grand playground full of adventure.
Life is an adventure.
Majority of my time goes into science and research where I have a unique area of expertise. The Venn diagram here illustrates the area of my expertise. Materials, laser, and imaging are wide topics which at some point during my scientific career, overlap to each other. As a result, the centre region of the diagram depicts my specialty.
Materials of my expertise span from advanced materials (skyrmion, superconductors, semiconductor) to engineering materials (steels, superalloys, and polymer). I am familiar with laser physics and its application, such as laser interferometry for detecting gravitational waves, and high-power laser for processing materials. Imaging is very useful for monitoring laser processes and materials characterisation. Both applications use the same imaging principle, although source illumination, detectors, and optical system vary depending on the application. I carried out experiments using electron microscopes, synchrotron X-ray diffraction, optical microscopes, thermal imaging, X-ray topography, and high-speed imaging. I developed differential phase contrast technique for imaging complex magnetic structures and transmission synchrotron X-ray diffraction set-up for observing phase transformation kinetics of steels during laser heat treatment.
I am expanding the area of my expertise by exploring new subjects and research cases.
My other interests outside physics are neuropsychology, non-fiction books, ballet, violin, swimming, travelling, culinary arts, fashion, digital arts, and photography. I am starting up a personal digital art gallery at Shutterstock. Should you be interested in my expertise and/or interest, please feel free to reach me via e-mail or LinkedIn.
